Lab Description:
In this lab, students will be use of the breadboard, mini digital training to implement logic circuits. Study and verify the work of basic logic gates using IC’s (electronic chips). Basics of Implementing and verify the working of Boolean functions using basic logic gates. Simplify the Boolean expressions using Boolean algebraic rules. Simplify the Boolean functions using karnaugh map and verify the working of Boolean functions using minimal representation. Also verifying the work of the Boolean expressions in SOP and POS forms. Represent and implement the Boolean function using only NAND gates and verify the work of the function. Represent and implement the Boolean function using only NOR gates and verify the work of the function. Design half-adder and full adder circuits using basic logic gates. Implement and verify the work of the adder circuits. Design half-subtractor and full subtractor circuits using basic logic gates. Implement and verify the work of the subtractor circuits. Design combinational circuit’s 1-bit, 2-bit magnitude comparator. Implement and verify the work of 2-bit magnitude comparator using basic logic gates and breadboard. Design and implement the 4-bit magnitude comparator. Realize the pin description of 7485 IC to verify the work of 4-bit comparator using digital training set. Design a combinational circuit 2x4 line decoder (ACTIVE-HIGH) with a control line E. Implement and verify the work of the decoder using gates and breadboard. Design and implement Binary to Decimal decoder (BCD). Realize the pin description of 4028 IC to verify the work of it using digital training set. Design a combinational circuits 4 to1 line multiplexer. Implement and verify the work of the decoder using gates and breadboard. Design and implement 8 to 1 line MUX. Realize the pin description of 4051 IC to verify the work of it using digital training set. Study of basic memory elements (SR, JK, D and T flip-flops). Realize the pin description of 7474 and 7476 IC’s to implement and verify the work of these flip-flops. Realize and implement Up and Down synchronous counters using Cedars simulator program. Realize the pin description of 7474 and 7476 IC’s to implement and verify the work of up/down counter.
